I explore light and
form in the elements, particularly water. There is
structure in all my paintings – buildings,
landscapes, boats- but those things only provide a
support to the real subject matter. I allow the
action and the light in the water or sky to create
the dynamics of the picture. The immediacy of pastel
together with its translucent quality, even after
many layers, helps me achieve this.
My work is the result
of inspired observation. I hope that the viewer’s
imagination is as inspired as mine was when I
decided to create the picture.
"There are things known and
there are things unknown and in between are the
doors of perception."
- Aldous Huxley
